Shakespeare famously treated both the downfall of Julius Caesar and the subsequent romance between Cleopatra and Mark Anthony in two separate plays. Handel's sensuous score brings together Caesar and Cleopatra, skilled politicians and lovers, against a backdrop of military conflict. Sung in Italian with english titles.
